Keep Moving With Holy Purpose | Part 3 of an Ongoing Series

Standing at the Crossroads

You stand at a crossroads. Behind you is what you have always known — the job that once felt secure, the relationship that once felt certain, the routines that once felt safe. In front of you is a path you cannot clearly see. The numbers don’t add up. The timing feels off. The people around you don’t fully understand. Yet somewhere deep in your spirit, the Holy Spirit keeps whispering, Keep moving.

Maybe it is a career change that makes no logical sense on paper. Maybe it is a broken relationship that you never saw coming. Maybe God is stirring a ministry calling in you that feels far bigger than your qualifications. You look ahead and all you can see is fog. You look within and all you can feel is tension — a clash between caution and calling.

Have you ever been asked by God to move, but you couldn’t see where you were going? If that is where you are today, this is not the end of your story. It may be the very place where God is inviting you into a deeper kind of walk — a walk by faith, not by sight. And that is where the real struggle begins.

When the Road Ahead Is Foggy

One of the hardest places for any believer is the space between God has spoken and I can see what He is doing. We want the roadmap before we start the journey. We want the five-year plan before we take the first step. When the road ahead is foggy, fear begins to talk loudly: What if you heard God wrong? What if you fail? What if you get hurt again?

Some of us feel spiritually paralyzed. We are waiting for every detail to make sense before we obey the last thing God told us. We say we trust Him, but in practice we trust clarity more than we trust Christ. We say we are willing to follow, but we keep negotiating for more information before we move. Our feet stay still while our hearts grow weary.

“A man’s steps are of the Lord; how then can a man understand his own way?”

Proverbs 20:24 (NKJV)

Scripture is honest with us: we are not promised full understanding of our own way. God Himself says, “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways” (Isaiah 55:8, NKJV). The One who leads us is not only our Savior but also our Sanctifier, Healer, and Coming King. His ways are higher, His timeline is wiser, His purposes are deeper than our immediate comfort. That tension between our desire for control and God’s call to trust is where many disciples either stall or grow.

Faith That Keeps Moving

Paul writes, “For we walk by faith, not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5:7, NKJV). That verse is more than a Christian slogan; it is a description of the normal Christian life. Notice he doesn’t say, “We arrive by faith” or “We plan by faith.” He says, “We walk.” Faith is movement. Faith is not the absence of uncertainty; faith is obedience in the presence of uncertainty. To walk by faith is to keep moving with holy purpose even when you cannot see around the next bend.

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

Hebrews 11:1 (NKJV)

Faith rests not on our ability to predict the future but on God’s unchanging character. Walking by faith means trusting that the Savior who died for you will not abandon you now. It means believing that the Sanctifier who is shaping you will not waste your pain. It means leaning on the Healer who mends what is broken, and looking to the Coming King who writes the final chapter of history. When you cannot see the plan, you can still trust the Person.

Think of a ship’s captain navigating through a thick nighttime fog. He cannot trust his eyes; visibility is almost zero. If he steers by what he can see in the moment, he will drift off course or collide with unseen danger. Instead, he relies on his instruments — the compass, the radar, the maps that have already been tested and proven. Those instruments do not remove the fog, but they make safe movement possible in the middle of it.

In the same way, God does not always remove the fog from our lives, but He has given us instruments of faith. His Word is our chart, His Spirit is our internal compass, and His faithfulness in our past is our proven map. The psalmist declares, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” (Psalm 119:105, NKJV). A lamp does not show the whole road; it shows the next few steps. Walking by faith means you move forward with the light you have, trusting that more light will be given as you go.

When we walk this way, we discover something beautiful: every unseen step rests on solid ground. “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose” (Romans 8:28, NKJV). God’s faithfulness is the ground beneath every step you cannot yet explain. As disciples on the journey from the Cross to the Commission, our calling is not to control the outcome but to take the next obedient step. That is where real discipleship, real maturity, and real mission begin.

Take One Step of Faith

This week, I want to invite you to take one step of faith. Not a giant leap. Not a dramatic announcement. Just one obedient step in the direction God has already been whispering. Maybe it is reaching out to reconcile with someone. Maybe it is signing up to serve in a ministry like our Empowered to Serve pathway here at Alicia Alliance Church. Maybe it is opening your Bible each morning and asking the Lord, “What is my next step today?”

Do not wait for the whole story before you move. The Cross has already proven His love; the Commission has already defined your purpose. As you discover Christ, mature in Him, and journey with Him into your community, remember: the God who calls you is faithful. Closing Prayer (By Rev. Ricardo H. Obida)

Lord Jesus Christ, our Savior, Sanctifier, Healer, and Coming King, we come to You as people who often feel caught in the fog. We confess that we have sometimes waited for perfect clarity before we were willing to obey. Forgive us for trusting our sight more than Your voice.

Today, I pray for each reader. Holy Spirit, fill their hearts with courage where there has been fear, with peace where there has been anxiety, and with hope where there has been confusion. Give them clarity of heart, even when there is not yet clarity of path. Remind them that Your presence is their true direction.

Father, order their steps according to Your Word. Let Your voice be louder than every other voice in their lives. Strengthen them to take the next right step — to forgive, to serve, to trust, to go — knowing that You walk beside them. Use their obedience to shape them as disciples and to bless the communities around them.

And as they keep moving with holy purpose, let their lives proclaim that You are faithful from the first step to the last. In the strong name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
